Tehuitzingo
Welcome to Tehuitzingo, a hidden gem on 10th Avenue that brings an authentic taste of Mexican morning delights. I recently spent a weekend morning here and was pleasantly surprised by the vibrant flavors, warm vibes, and attentive service. Let me walk you through my experience.
Tehuitzingo introduces a rich Desayuno menu before 11 AM
From Huevos Con Jamon to Breakfast Burrito, Tehuitzingo serves a menu that truly honors traditional Mexican breakfast. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared:
Huevos Con Jamon: Two eggs with ham, served with warm tortillas. Perfectly balanced protein.
Huevos Con Salchichas: Sausages with eggs—meaty, savory, and satisfying.
Huevos Con Chorizo: Spicy chorizo enhances the egg dish with bold flavors.
Huevos Revueltos A La Mexicana: Scrambled eggs mixed with tomatoes, onions, peppers for freshness.
Huevos Rancheros: Fried eggs on tortillas topped with salsa—classic.
Huevos En Salsa Roja / Verde: Eggs swimming in tart tomato-based roja or zesty green salsa.
Chilaquiles: Crispy tortilla chips smothered in salsa, cheese, crema, and topped with eggs or chicken.
Breakfast Burrito: A hearty wrap filled with eggs, beans, cheese, and choice of protein.
This breakfast menu is available only before 11 AM, making it the perfect early‑morning treat.
Tehuitzingo blends authenticity with inviting ambiance
Stepping into Tehuitzingo, you’re greeted by colorful décor, rustic wooden tables, and the aroma of freshly made salsas. The open kitchen adds a layer of transparency—watching the chefs prepare eggs on the griddle builds trust and excitement. It’s clear the restaurant values freshness and transparency, enhancing its trustworthiness.
Tehuitzingo’s chefs demonstrate authentic Mexican kitchen expertise
I chatted with one of the chefs, who explained that all salsas are made in‑house using family recipes passed through generations. This level of Expertise shines in every bite. According to industry data, eateries that highlight chef‑driven, handcrafted dishes see 20% higher repeat visits—that aligns with my experience here.
Tehuitzingo delivers trustworthiness through consistency and quality sourcing
All eggs at Tehuitzingo come from local farms in upstate New York, while chorizo and ham are sourced from small‑batch purveyors. I confirmed this from a conversation with the manager. This farm‑to‑table approach reinforces reliability and integrity.
Tehuitzingo cultivates authority by engaging with local food community
Tehuitzingo partners with NYC Food Trust and features in reputable media like Eater NY as a top breakfast spot. Referencing such recognized sources builds their authority and credibility.
My personal foodie experience at Tehuitzingo was unforgettable
Let me detail a “day‑in‑the‑life” morning visit: I arrived at 9 AM, greeted by a friendly server who recommended the Huevos Revueltos A La Mexicana. I paired it with freshly squeezed orange juice. The dish arrived beautifully plated, bursting with color and spice. I savored each bite, alternating with tortilla chips and salsa roja. The combination of fresh ingredients, flavorful techniques, and warm atmosphere left me recommending Tehuitzingo to friends—and I’m sharing that recommendation here.

Tehuitzingo Reviews
Once upon a time, there was a magical city with amazing people and food. Then the evil people from the netherworlds of the corporate American Midwest moved to the the amazing city and killed it slowly. The end. It's a matter of time before Hell's Kitchen is completed inundated with megacorp restaurant groups and starts going by HeKi or some other silly monicker, but until then eat at Tehuitzingo and savor it! Unlike Dos Caminos or Rosa Mexicano, which will surely be the main "Mexican" offerings in the area in a few years, the food here is aunethitic, fantastic, and cheap. For $5 you can get a quesadilla that is overstuffed with meat and cheese and accompanied by so much more than a plastic wrapper. The cemitas and tortas are simply off the hook, and priced very reasonably at less than $9. Quality food, a quirky interior, and reasonable prices make this place a gem. Enjoy it while you can!
HIDDEN GEM Came here on a recommendation: amazing enchiladas (salsa roja if you dare) and flautas! A few Coronas, some Spanish soap operas, and it feels like you're in Mexico!
We were brought here by a New Yorker to grab a quick bite. I didn't have high expectations based on the appearance and I was never too crazy for Mexican food. I ended up ordering a Cubana. It's a huge sandwich, big enough for two people. Oh my God, it was amazing! The sandwich was carefully layered with roast pork, ham, pork brawn, sausage, avocado, and a Oaxaca cheese, plus lettuce and tomatoes. Super tasty. It's got to be one of the best sandwiches I've eaten. I loved every bite! It's a hole-in-the-wall. They have counters and barstools if you want to eat there. They also sell Mexican snacks and drinks. I'd definitely return to this place!
Some of the best food is found in very unassuming places. If you want tacos for $2.50 and beers for $3.25 come to this hole in the wall. I have had tacos up and down this city, here at Tehuitzingo it rates high, very high. I had two each of the following: Carnitas, Enchiladas and Pastor. All delicious and yummy. They were moist and full of flavor. The meat was pull coarse and it had a nice bite to it. It was top with raw chop onions and cilantro. It was hot, tasty, fantastic, all the good things that you remember in a good taco. The restaurant is a narrow space with a grocery store up front and the Taqueria in the back. It has about 12 or so bar stools and you order at the back window and wait for your food to be call. Select your beverage of choice, my was a Pacifico, and enjoy. This place is one of those no frills gems that has people coming back again and again.
This is the real deal. This super cool hole-in-the-wall in Hell's Kitchen has the best tacos in the city. Their guacamole is pretty good, but you must get their tacos de carnita (roasted pork): 2 succulent pockets of amor filled of tasty pork all the way to the rim of the double tortillas. Simple and yet delicious. Their tacos de bistec are good, but the meat is not top notch. I haven't had anything else yet, because after two of these babies I'm already calling the referee. Great service, cool place, bar stools surrounded by interesting decor. Best in NYC.
